FlipFlopDan Visits Europe: 2nd Stop - Venice

My second stop in Europe was Venice, Italy. As you can see from the photo above, I did what any typical American tourist would do - take photos of the sights. As I was on my way to lunch with a group of co-workers, I took a photo of the Grand Canal from the Rialto Bridge. I was in Venice for 3.5 days but had only about 90 minutes to myself the entire stay due to business functions and meals. So in the photos below, I strove for quality vs. quantity. Take a look and I'll comment after you view the photos.

Since I only had 90 minutes on my last day to set out on my own, I stopped at San Marco Piazza aka St.Mark's Square (American translation -haha) to purchase some gifts for the office staff back in NYC. I came across this guy wearing his picnic outfit which I liked very much. A pair of thin-strapped Havaianas flip-flops coupled with a pair of skinny jeans is a look I love! I just had finished purchasing my gifts when I spotted this guy. Do you know what was such a turn-on for me? He looked as if he had just had a pedicure done and his toenails shone, reflecting the clear nail-polish he was wearing. He had nice long toes which I really like. I apologize that some of the photos were blurry but he did not stand still for me to get a good close-up of his feet, pedicured toes, and flip-flops. I could have followed him all night but I had to depart for another business function.........

FlipFlopDan Visits Europe: 1st Stop - London

This past October I had the pleasure of visiting London, one of the greatest cities in the world. Other than the weather, London is very similar to NYC in terms of finance, culture, and diversity. The one thing that I was curious about is whether the UK men wore flip-flops as proudly as the American guys. Here's the evidence:

October: Given that it was October, the weather was in the mid 40s F and overcast. Above is a photo of the Thames River with Parliament and Big Ben, the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster.

Aussies in The UK: Several weeks ago I made a reference to a guy wearing shorts and white Havaianas in Times Square. Well, I spotted these three guys wearing shorts and Havaianas flip-flops as they walked through Piccadilly Circus in London's West End. They were very sexy in their Havaianas despite the cool weather. Their Havaianas were quite worn which indicates that they wear flip-flops all the time....hmmm, who else likes that??

Poser: While walking around London, I turned the corner onto Charring Cross Road and saw this guy standing there in his blue Havaianas. Quite a sight!

Abercrombie Boy: As I was cruising around Piccadilly Circus, I came across this blonde guy wearing flip-flops. He was adorned in the typical Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) uniform of sweater, skinny jeans, and leather treads.

Starbucks: Of course, I was curious about the A&F retail location in London. I walked over there and spotted these two Abercrombie boys sitting in Strabucks. Thankfully, they sat in the window seats exposing their flip-flopped clad feet to me. I visited the A&F store which was very nice but I did not take any photos.

Havaianas & Shorts: Ironically, the UK and US are so very similar - I didn't have to tell you that. However, the one thing that stands out to me is that guys will wear shorts with flip-flops anywhere despite the temperature. I'm not complaining but I just wanted to point that out to you.........haha!

Khakis: Another sighting in Piccadilly Circus. This guy wearing a pair of tan khakis and black/white Havaianas walked by me and stopped in one of the many souvenir shops in the area. I waited for awhile to take some additional photos but gave up because he was taking too long to shop.

Dirty Feet: I had two days in London at the tail-end of an European business trip. As you view the photos above, it's obvious that I had walked a few miles/kilometers around London. As I sat at my hotel bar, I shot a few photos of my dirty feet and brown Havaianas. I love London and hopefully will visit again in the near future.

Winter Flip-Flops: January 16, 2012

It was one of those weekends where I spent a significant amount of time outdoors on Saturday and Monday but was unsuccessful in finding any guys wearing flip-flops. As a matter of fact, I only spotted one guy wearing any type of open-toed footwear. I'll admit that the weather didn't cooperate with the temperature at freezing while the wind-chill made it substantially colder. Being the trooper that I am, I walked around wearing my leather flip-flops. However, the sacrifice really didn't pay off considering the investment in time that I made.

The only guy I saw over the two days was the Asian guy above who was wearing a pair of white slide sandals of some sort. It was early afternoon yesterday as I was walking through Union Square when I spotted this guy. I would have taken more photos if I had known that he was the only guy I would see over the entire weekend.

One guy stopped me along the way yesterday and commented on my footwear in a manner of a true New York guy: "Ain't your feet ice cold??!! You must be fuckin' crazy!!" That pretty much sums up my lost weekend....haha.

Winter Flip-Flops? - January 7, 2012

I've been away on business travel for the last week, so I have fallen a bit behind. The weather last weekend was surprisingly warm with the temperature going to the upper 40s F. I expected to see a few more guys in flip-flops than usual due to the comfortable weather. As you can see above, I was wearing my Reef 'Skinny Leather' flip-flops.

Banana Republic: As I was walking up Fifth Avenue, I spotted these two guys above wearing flip-flops and sandals. They were very comfortable with the temperature as both of them had removerd their jackets as the exited the store. I followed them for a few blocks but the pedestrian traffic was causing me problems as I tried to get close-ups of their feet.

Comfortable Walk: This guy walked through Times Square without a worry in the world and very comforatble in his flip-flops. I think he was wearing a pair of Reef Flip-flops with the wide band, which I really don't care for.

Shorts?: I'm sorry that I didn't get a photo of his face but this really cute Asian guy was out and about in his shorts. He was wearing a pair of Rainbows sandals. He had really nice toes and smooth legs!

Pedicure?: This guy drove me nuts! He kept on zig-zagging through the crowd making my job more difficult as you can see from the various angles I took photos from. One comment: this guy's feet were dirty and he really needed a pedicure!

Luggage: I spotted this guy as he maneuvered through Times Square with his luggage in tow. I didn't recognize the brand or type of flip-flops he was wearing. But, with the weather being as nice as it was for a day in January, I didn't mind!

Winter Flip-Flops: January 2, 2012

I went out January 2nd to see if I could find any guys wearing flip-flops in temperatures that were near or below freezing. As many of you know, I like to wear flip-flops during the winter and I like to see if I can find any other other guys doing the same. It was a successful day!

Rainbows: As I was walking up 7th Avenue towards Times Square, I noticed the guy standing there in shorts and black Rainbows sandals. I was amazed that he was wearing shorts but pleased that he was wearing flip-flops. He had a nice pair of groomed feet also. Of course, I had to get my flip-flopped foot into the photo to show that I am a true winter flip-flopper!

LIRR: LIRR is an acronym for the Long Island Railroad, a commuter train system which uses Penn Station as its' main NYC transit hub. I had just exited the subway into Penn Station when I spotted this guy in a blue blazer, jeans, and Rainbows sandals headed toward the exit. I quickly caught up to him and took a few photos of his feet as he rode the escalator to catch a taxi.

Skinny Jeans: I spotted this guy as he was walking towards a sporting goods store. Of course, I followed him in and out of the store. While he was shopping for basketball jackets and jerseys, I quickly took a few photos of his flip-flops. He was wearing a pair skinny jeans and black Havaianas flip-flops. I love this look!

Shorts: I couldn't believe it when I saw another guy wearing shorts! This young Asian guy was wearing a pair of black Hollister flip-flops.

Army: I titled this section 'Army' since the guy above was wearing all green canvas/khaki type clothes. I was unable to get a close-up of his feet and flip-flops since he had looked back at me twice...haha. One of the few times I've been caught!

WTF!?!?: I don't know what this guy was doing with that outfit, but just for the hell of it, I took some photos of him because he was wearing flip-flops. I know that someone out there would appreciate it. Just don't tell me....haha!

Well, that's all the guys I was able to find wearing flip-flops but as the winter continues, I'll be out there looking!

Happy New Year 2012 from FlipFlopErotic!

Times Square: It was an usually warm day here in NYC for New Years Eve with the temperature hovering near 50 degrees F. I decided to take a quick walk through Times Square to see the activity of the crowd while keeping my eyes open and camera ready to photograph any "winter" flip-flop wearers. As you can see from the photographs above, the NYC Police Department had already shut down Times Square to vehicle traffic as we wait for the ball to drop at midnight.
Lunchtime sighting: Of course, I can't operate on an empty stomach so I stopped at a local bar and restaurant for lunch. Guess who I sat next to? A good-looking dark-haired guy of Middle-Eastern or Indian descent whom was wearing a pair of well-worn flip-flops. The heel was worn flat. He appeared to be wearing a pair of green with orange trim J. Crew flip-flops. Since I was sitting so close to him, it was difficult to get a close-up. As usual, I got my foot into the photo. I was wearing a pair of Reef 'Skinny Leather' flip-flops - my favorite pair this week..haha! I spoke to him briefly but he had no idea what was going on.........

Shorts? White Havaianas?: Well, it was that warm today although I would not think of wearing shorts. This guy breezed by me wearing a pair of white Havaianas. As I had mentioned in a recent post, it's very unusual to see any guys wearing Havaianas in the cold NYC winter weather. I wonder if he's a Brit or an Aussie? We'll chat about that in a future post. I'm not complaining though...bring 'em on!
Grand Central Terminal: I took a walk over to the new Apple store which opened on the east balcony of Grand Central Terminal. As I walked through the terminal, I spotted the guy above standing alone in the center. As you can see from the photos, he was not standing near anyone which made my job of taking photos more difficult than usual. I circled him, snapped a few shots, and ascertained that he was wearing a pair of clunky thick-strapped and thick-soled Reef sandals which I despise. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers!
Shorts again?: As I said earlier, it was an usually warm day here today in NYC. I ran into this dark-skinned Latino who was wearing a pair of flip-flops which I didn't recognize. I apologize that I didn't get a close-up but he was heading towards Times Square, a destination that I didn't want to go to!
Well, we come to the close of the 2011 holiday season and look forward to a great 2012 new year. The photo above is from Bryant Park with the green and red lit Empire State Building in the background....a beautiful sight!

Dear FFE,

It's me Dominik. In the past I sent you pictures of my feet in flip flops because I am a serious fan of your site and men in flip flops. So, I thought you would enjoy reading about a friend of mine and his flip flops.

Above is a picture of the flip flops he wears 24/7. Sun, Rain, Snow, Hail... Whatever weather there is outside he has these on. The reason they're mismatched is because he originally had a pair of Hollister flip flops but the left one broke. So, instead of replacing them with the cheaper pair he had, he just replaced the broken one and continued wearing the right one. When I met him, I thought this was odd, but I still found his feet sexy in them. So, I waited for the longest time to get a picture of his flip flops and finally, I did. It was after a party and he'd left his shoes where I was before he'd gone to bed. I was alone and I didn't have to think twice about getting a shot of these. When I went to put them where I'd found them, I couldn't help but get a whiff of his foot stink. So, since no one was around, I put my face in both of them and got a big whiff. I loved every minute of it and I think any flip flop lover would have!

Hi Dan,

I am a reader of your flipfloperotic blog. I am a flip flop collector based in Hong Kong. I mostly collected those traditional style flip flops in HK. They have the name "seahorse sandals" I love them so much that I use seahorse sandals as my nickname. What I love about seahorse sandals is their cloth thong straps that are extremely comfortable. And the cloth straps are also good at absorbing the sweat in between the big toe and the 2nd toe.

They used to be very popular many years ago that there were a lot of bootleg versions. I collect both genuine and bootleg versions and have about 40 worn pairs in total. I also wear other flip flops besides my seahorse collection. e.g. I have a few pairs of Havaianas which I wear during summer times. I've attached a few pics of my seahorse collection. Enjoy! And drop me a few lines when you have time.

Another really cold day in NYC this past weekend. As you see, I'm out in my flip-flops. I didn't see any guys wearing flip-flops due to the cold weather which was below freezing. I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas........................ No! I meant I'm Dreaming of White Havaianas!

Today is Saturday December 17, 2011. I was out Xmas shopping in NYC. It was a cold, raw day with the temperatures just above feeezing. I came across this guy wearing white Havaianas. This was a dream come true. It's very unusual to see a guy wearing rubber flip-flops in the cold weather. On top of that, he was wearing white rubber Havaianas flip-flops...a total turn-on!!

As you can see from the last two photos, I had to get my foot into the photo. I was wearing a pair of Reef "skinny leather" flip-flops. I love doing this!

It has been a while but our friend from Brazil - Louco por Havaianas aka Crazy About Havaianas - sent me the following photos of a guy he met on Orkut. Orkut is a social networking website that is owned and operated by Google Inc. and is one of the most visited websites in Brazil. The guy below is wearing a pair of size 43/44 Havaianas. Hmmm, I wear the same size!!

Hello. It's been quite awhile since I've been here. However as you've read many times in the past, I'm a big fan of wearing flip-flops in the winter. So, here's some photos I've taken over this past weekend of guys wearing flip-flops for while shopping during the holiday season. Enjoy!

Of course, I want to start out with the latest photo of me wearing flip-flops on the train home. Due to the windburn, my foot looks nice and tan (and of course dirty).

Asian: I came across this Asian guy as he maneuvered his way through Times Square. He looked adequately under-dressed with the temperatures near freezing.

Apple: Up near the Apple store near Central Park, I ran into this guy wearing a pair of leather treads. You can't see in the photos but he had really nice set of toes with the nails neatly trimmed...my kind of flip-flop guy!

Random: If you pay attention, there's always a guy wearing flip-flops! Sometimes you just need to pay attention!

Drive-by: As I was walking up Fifth Avenue, I spied this guy walking down Fifth Avenue. So I fought the crowds and shot a few photos of him wearing flip-flops in the cold weather.

Skateboard: One of the best thing that could happen to a flip-flops fetishist like me is for a guy wearing flip-flops come up and stand next to me! He happened to have his skateboard - I guess I can deal with that!

A New Assortment of Winter Flip-Flops

The first six weeks of 2011 have been both cold and snowy here in New York City. Although I have spent a significant number of hours outside, the weather has minimized my number of winter flip-flops sightings. I knew it would be difficult once the heavy snow fell during Christmas weekend. From previous experience, all of the guys in NYC send their flip-flops into hibernation. Nevertheless, there were a few guys still dedicated to wearing flip-flops in the winter and I found them!

Although I did not like the flip-flops he was wearing, I appreciate that the cute guy above was wearing his flip-flops proudly. I spotted him while walking through Times Square and was fortunate to get a close-up of his feet and flip-flops. Like I said earlier: hate the flip-flops but love the toes!

I spotted this young guy as he was buying a hot-dog down in the Soho section of NYC. It was a very cold day and I wondered why he wasn't wearing a jacket. It turns out that he was an employee of the Hollister store located directly across the street from the hot-dog vendor. He was wearing a pair of those Hollister thin-strapped rubber flip-flops which all Hollister employees wear. I may be a little crazy but doesn't he remind you of Robert Pattinson?

While walking through the Union Square area, I spotted this guy wearing a pair of black rubber flip-flops. He was actively engaged in a conversation with a friend which allowed me to get near him to shoot some photos of his flip-flops. As you can see I was about three foot away from him as witnessed by me sticking my Rainbow sandals clad foot into the picture. I love it when this happens!

As you can tell, the snow has inhibited many guys from wearing flip-flops this winter. I was lucky enough to be walking down Fifth Avenue when I spotted this guy wearing a pair of Mark Zuckerberg's "fuck-you" flip-flops aka Adidas sports sandals.

Well, thats all for now. Thank God, less than six weeks until Spring!

Juan Visits NYC & Meets FlipFlopDan

I'm a longtime reader and huge flipflop fan. Rainbows are my favorites, I have 25 pairs. I'm going to be in NYC this Thursday night and again in February for a weekend and was wondering if you wanted to meet up. I'd love to see your hot flip-flopped feet!

So Juan and I met today - Sunday February 6th.When I met Juan in the lobby of his hotel, he was wearing a pair of well-worn Rainbows. We went to lunch to get to know one another a little better.

After we went to lunch, by some odd coincidence, Juan was wearing the Havaianas I had worn to meet him...hmmm! We took a walk to feel out each others flip-flops.........
Even though the weather was a bit milder today in NYC, Juan stood by a big pile of snow at a crosswalk.

While Juan was still wearing my Rainbows, I slipped on a pair of his Rainbows where the big toe had been completely worn away...HOT!!!

Winter Flip-Flops: December 11, 2010

As many of you are aware, I'm a big fan of wearing flip-flops during the winter. One of my biggest turn-ons is seeing other guys wearing flip-flops too. So, with my handy little digital camera, I traverse the streets of New York City looking for those guys. Here's some of the photos I took on December 11, 2010.
As you can see, it was a nice, chilly day with the temperature at 32 degree F, as many of you know equals 0 degrees C!

The first guy I spotted that day was wearing a pair of black Old Navy rubber flip-flops. He was hustling down Broadway towards Herald Square when I finally caught up to him. His toes, like mine, were red from the significant wind-chill that day which made it feel like 20 degrees F. I circled around him to get various shots of his cold feet and flip-flops. As I was taking the photos, he happened to look down and did a double-take when he saw that I was wearing flip-flops also!

I caught this guy as he stood at a cross walk in Times Square. Not much to report although his right big toe was bloody as if someone had stepped on his toe or he kicked something along the way.

Last but not least, as I was getting to go home, I ran into this guy who was wearing a pair of brown Old Navy rubber flip-flops. He was a cute young Asian guy which I followed very closely in order to photograph his flip-flops. Since he was moving quickly, I was only able to get several clear shots - most of them were blurry. You'd never believe what happened next. He stopped in Times Square and asked me to take a picture of his firend and him. I couldn't tell he if he noticed that I was wearing flip-flops also!

Memories of Flip-Flops Last Summer!

As most of the United States freezes their ass off to this incredibly cold and snowy winter, I began reminiscing of guys wearing flip-flops last summer. So I began looking at the many photos I took last summer and came across the following set. I saw this guy standing in Times Square. He had a bit of a mixed heritage: part Latino, part Asian, a nice mix. He was wearing a pair of straight legged jeans, not quite skinny jeans, and a pair of black rubber flip-flops. I did not recognize the brand. He stood there posing for me for awhile which I like! This enabled me to get a few close-ups of his feet and flip-flops. I almost passed out when he bent over to adjust the strap between his toes. I thought to myself "I'll do that for you!" After a few he walked away. I followed him for a short distance and bid him farewell!

Freedom Or Faux Pas: Are White Flip-Flops After Labor Day Okay?

Labor Day in the USA signals the last days, symbolically at least, of summer and thus of "official" flip-flop season.

Of course we choose not to accept that there is ever an end to flip flop season but we do recognize that cooler weather will be on its way in many parts of north America. Does the time-tested rule of not wearing white after Labor Day apply to flip-flops and sandals as well?

It's coming to that time of year again, when clothes get thicker and all of your white articles of clothing get packed away, never to be seen again until next year. Or is this really the case? There has been a definite increase in the number of people who continue to wear white after Labor Day, causing many to believe that the old fashion rule of not wearing white after September is a tired, antique notion.

In the fickle world of fashion, never has a color deemed unac-ceptable been so widely embraced. Designers such as Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Chanel, and Versace, among many others, have crisp white staples in their fall/winter collections. Chain stores such as Gap, Old Navy and H&M carry white clothing in materials such as wool and 2-ply cotton, materials too thick to wear in summer. Furthermore, designers have used terms such as "winter white" to make certain pieces of their collections stand out and to lend an acceptability to the idea.

But does this apply to flip-flops, footwear previously associated only with summer months which have recently continued to be worn (where possible) year round, even in colder areas of the country? Fashion magazines have responded to these trends, calling people who "dare" to wear white after Labor Day innovative, creative, and bold and chroncling the wearing of flips well past the first days of September.

Maybe white is, slowly but surely, beginning to break free from its box, and is becoming acceptable to wear whenever one pleases. Perhaps the same applies to white flips. With all of this talk about white after Labor Day, how does it affect the fashion-conscious flip-flop wearer or does it even matter? Will wearing white flip-flops in the dead of winter generate compliments or criticism?

"Personally, I thought white was fine to wear, regardless of the season," said Justin Pumphrey, a Sophomore Physician's Assistant major. "I'm from the Midwest, and I can't remember a time when it wasn't okay to wear white. But I've got alot of other pairs of flips and I usually wear my leather or suede ones more as the weather cools down" It seems the notion that it is unac-ceptable to wear white after Labor Day is becoming outdated however in the last couple of years the idea has resurfaced.

When approached with the question of whether white was acceptable after Labor Day, Michael Bastion, a senior at Howard University wrinkled his face in confusion. "I honestly have never heard about that rule, ever, until right now and there's no way it applies to flip-flops right?" he said. "In terms of fashion, wear what you like, whenever you like, and you'll be fine".

The general consensus seems to be that white is alright, whenever you choose to wear it. It may be interesting to note the origins of the notion. Originally, the rule was more along the lines of "Only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day." Furthermore, it mainly applied to dress shoes. White tennis shoes or sneakers and off-white boots seem exempt yet the jury may appear to still be out on flip-flops.

Finally,while wearing white flips anytime of the year, take care to remember that the color attracts all kinds of unsightly splotches and stains so they become less practical when the ground is wet, muddy and messy.

The choice is yours, ignore the old rule and wear white flips after Labor Day or switch to other styles in darker colors and heavier materials. Either way have fun. HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!

Ivan, one of my contacts, published this question in my profile. I am not an expert on the subject , but based on my own experience, the following could be considered prior to a feet session:

1) Be clear and direct: If you want to be with someone, let him know it. If you do not want to, you have the same right to say no.

2) Talk in advance about the tastes of each party: There are those who like sweaty feet and smelly, there are those who do not like. Some people prefer bare feet, some people like socks. There are those who like tickling or bondage, domination, submission, trampling... the combinations are endless . The best is when both parties are satisfied , and when any situation is never forced.

3) Be specific in what you want : Sometimes it may be limiting to feel attraction for a certain type of people (age range , have healthy feet fungus - free " , etc. ), but this will avoid a hard time rejecting someone who finally is not a match for you .

4) Both parties should be honest : If you're sharing a real picture in your profile, it is fair that the other party do the same, not using Brad Pitt or Bob Sponge pictures (for example) .

5) Confirm the objective of the session : There are heterosexuals who enjoy male feet but they do not necessarily look for messing with another man. A session can have its sexual side , or may refer only to the feet. A meeting can have its social side (going for a beer or coffee, to know each other in another environment), but sometimes you can not have it.

6) Be legal: No matter how handsome he is or how hot feet he has, avoiding a meeting with a minor. Later, you can have problems you have never think of (and this is not discrimination).

7) Fifty- fifty : It is healthy to share in advance the payment of expenses, if any ( motel , transportation , etc.).

8) Be accessible: While both parties do not get hurt (physically or psychologically ) , allow yourself to be explored. Both can find pleasant body corners , or find unusual erogenous zones .

9) Look a little further : Sometimes it seems that the package is not complete. Someone who is very handsome, can have feet that do not attract , or vice versa. Do not let that put you in a bad mood. Someone who is not so handsome, can have an excellent sense of humor.

10) Be Responsibñe: If you do not use drugs , do not do it. If the meeting includes sex with the consent of both parties , use a condom. Do not force the other to do something you do not want , or let them force you .

11 ) Have fun : Geat ready for the meeting , wear this or that outfit , use your favorite perfume. Although the meeting is casual , do not forget you'll be with another person -like you- who has feelings. Feet In The World: "Barefoot Bandit" Nabbed In Bahamas

For two years he stayed a step ahead of the law - stealing cars, powerboats and even airplanes, police say, while building a reputation as a 21st-century folk hero...doing so the whole time with barefeet. On Sunday, Colton Harris-Moore - known as the "Barefoot Bandit" - may have let his odd-found celebrity become his downfall.

Witnesses on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera recognized the 19-year-old and called police, who captured him after a high-speed boat chase, Bahamas Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade said at a celebratory news conference in Nassau, the capital.

Police flew Harris-Moore in shackles to Nassau. True to his nickname, the 6'5" teen's big feet were shoeless as he walked off the plane while wearing short camouflage cargo pants, a white long-sleeved shirt, a bulletproof vest and his customary close-cropped hair.

There is interest in Harris-Moore among footlovers because of the "barefooted" element to his story. It increased when he was captured barefooted, with calls coming to actually see his feet and people wanting to know their size. Efforts have launched to start a Facebook page called "Show Us Colton Harris-Moore's Feet."

Harris-Moore is blamed for several thefts in the Bahamas in the week since allegedly crash-landing a stolen plane there, and Bahamian authorities said he will be prosecuted for those crimes before the start of any U.S. extradition proceedings.

He had been on the run since escap-ing from a Washing-ton state halfway house in 2008. He is accused of breaking into dozens of homes and committing burglaries across Washing-ton, as well as in British Columbia and Idaho.

He is also suspected of stealing at least five planes - including the aircraft he allegedly lifted in Indiana and flew more than 1,000 miles to the Bahamas, despite a lack of formal flight training.

Some of his alleged actions appeared intended to taunt police: In February, someone who broke into a grocery store in Washington's San Juan Islands drew cartoonish, chalk-outline feet all over the floor - many believed it to have been Harris-Moore.

Through it all, his ranks of supporters grew. Some of his more than 60,000 Facebook fans posted disappointed messages Sunday, while others promoted T-shirts and tote bags with the words "Free Colton!" and "Let Colton Fly!". Items on Ebay have appeared over time immortalizing his mystique including an Orcas Island woman's casting of footprints believed to belong to Harris-Moore.

Police said several people reported seeing the barefooted teenager Wednesday night in the waters between Eleuthera and Harbour Island, a nearby tourist destination known for its art galleries, but did not know about the "Barefoot Bandit" until after discovering a series of break-ins the next day. Harris-Moore's mistake was to return to the same area.

The chase ended in the waters off the Romora Bay Resort & Marina on Harbour Island, where security director Kenneth Strachan reported seeing a young man running through the bush barefooted with a handgun. Harris-Moore is a skilled outdoorsman who honed his abilities growing up in the woods of Camano Island in Puget Sound north of Seattle.

Victims of the crimes Harris-Moore is accused of were happy to see him in custody. "These people that support him, they've never been violated by having him break into their homes or businesses," said Joni Fowler, manager of a cafe on Orcas Island north of Seattle where Harris-Moore is accused of taking as much as $1,500. "Just knowing he has a huge network of supporters makes me really worry about the state of this country."

Fowler said she hopes Harris-Moore's arrest and upcoming court appearances will pop his mystique and fame - "once everybody figures out he's no God."

Footlover's do not care about his status as an erstwhile hero or "god" or have opinions about his capture or alleged guilt - they just want to see his feet...

For over ten years the flip has now held its returned popularity in contemporary culture. In addition to familiar types, today, upscale flips abound. The everyday flip-flop has gone celebrity. If you haven't gotten yours out of the closet, today is the day to do it so go on honor the flip flop!!!

Adding a little "color" to the site: Hey Dan, my name is Mike. I stumbled upon your site a year ago while trying to find pictures of mens' feet in flip flops and I fell in love instantly. I have a huge foot fetish and I love to see both men and womens' feet in thong sandals and flip flops. However I could never find a site that catered to people who liked mens' feet, that is until I found your blog. Not only did your blog quench my thirst for photos of male feet, but it also gave me the inspiration to show my own. First, Junito pleasures Diesel, a married bodybuilder and fitness trainer with a pair of feet so hot you may find yourself licking the screen. Military men and the flip-flop go way back. Having a long asso-ciation, some would argue that the flip-flop or thong is really a soldier's best friend. Remember it is the veteran who brought "thongs" as they came to be known, commonly called flip-flops now, back to the US (as well as other countries) after serving in Asia and the Pacific.

In America, the first flip flops started to appear after World War II as soldiers brought the Japanese zori back from the war, often as souvenirs.

The precursor to the modern flip flop truly began to catch on, however, when soldiers returned from the Korean War in the 1950's during the postwar boom. Soldiers wore the predecessors to what we now think of as flip-flops, which were cheap rubber editions that frequently caused blisters and were typically poorly made so they didn’t last long. Nonetheless many people, particularly men were already addicted to wearing them at home, on the beach or when being casual.

As the footwear entered into American popular culture, it became redesigned and changed into the bright colors of Fifties design. As “pop culture,” flip flops became defining examples of an informal lifestyle and came to represent the California mindset in general and surf culture in particular.

It seemed like all kids wore them to the beach or the pool and cheap rubber flip flops appeared in every dime store (discount store nowadays) and beach shop. Over time, designs spread from rubber to wood to leather to bamboo and stylized platforms, yet all of them remaining true to the original base design of the early rubber flip flops.

For the soldiers of today, the affectionate relationship with the footwear continues, maybe even more so. As a major comfort item for many service men, the flip-flop often remains number one on the list. Soldiers in Iraq, when asked, have stated that they can't wait to get showered (as possible) and get their flip-flops on after a hard, hot day in combat boots.

One soldier interviewed stated "the heat here in Iraq can be so oppressive that your feet literally feel like they are going to burn up. It feels really good to us to take our boots off and let our feet breathe and wearing flips-flops is the next best thing to going barefooted".

Photos have captured off duty moments when soldiers are attempting to feel at home in their olive drab tee shirts, shorts and flip-flops, much like young men anywhere else in the world would.

While there are official issue flip-flops that the army can provide primarily for the men to use in the shower, some soldiers have acquired flips from other sources. Some have been sent flips from friends and family back home (much like other "care package" items) or through support endeavors such as "Operation Flip-Flop".

When representatives of charitable organizations who mail care packages to the troops were are asked, the word is clear,flip-flops are the most requested items. Most soldiers say that of all things, they love their flips the most because the sandals represent comfort, are useful for various reasons and give them a sense of "feeling like home".

On Memorial Day, here in the USA, take a moment to consider all that military men in times of war have gone through. We should thank them, of course, for their service. But also remember the unlikely role they have played in the popularization of our favorite footwear of today.

Spring in Times Square: Rainbows Flip-Flops

It was the second weekend of Spring in late March when I shot the video above. I noticed this young college-aged guy along with his father as they strolled through Times Square. The thing that stood out most to me was that he was wearing a pair of white athletic shorts even though the temperature was in the low 40s F, so it was quite cold with the wind blowing. He was wearing a pair of Rainbows flip-flops which I am a big fan of. I followed him up the platform where the TV cameras reside at the annual New Years' Eve celebration. As he walked down the platform, you can see his flip-flops slapping against his heels. Quite a sight!!

I have been extremely busy lately but starting next week, I'll be posting many more photos which I've taken this Spring.

Flip/Foot Events: Mexican Flip-Lovers Group Hosts "International Flip-Flops Day" Event 04-24-10

"The First " International Flip Flops Day" will be held tommorrow (04-24-10) in the Mexico City area. This event is being sponsored by the fantastic Mexican group of flip-flop lovers we have featured posts about here before, who enjoy male feet in flip flops and associated foot related interests.

The event will include a day full of activities related to the fetish and footwear we all love (contests, games, reflexology demonstrations, videos, etc). It runs from 12:00 -6:00 pm and will offer refreshments, games and prizes related to "chanclamania". This event is open to all who share the fetish for feet and flips or sandals.

The group believes that this event will be more purposeful than any activity they have hosted before. 1st Spring 2010 Flip-Flops Destination: Abercrombie!

Welcome to Spring 2010 in New York City! This past weekend, March 20-21, marked the beginning of spring in the Northern hemisphere. After a tough winter, we were blessed with two glorious days to kick-off the new season. So, I slipped into my Rainbows sandals and spent the weekend enjoying the warm weather as well as the sights. Here are some photos I took along the way..........

Welcome to Abercrombie!: Nothing better than walking down Fifth Avenue towards the Abercrombie store and have these cute guys in flip-flops there waiting for you. It's even better when a shirtless model is standing there also! As I approached, the model was standing in the doorway which is unusual. After a few minutes of me staring at his bare feet and chest, he quickly returned to the safety of his spotlight.

The Doormen: Although the focus seems to be on the shirtless models, I want to point out that the two guys guarding the doorway are not slackers. I thought that the both of them were very attractive standing there in their leather treads. Both of them had great feet!

Closet A & F Fans: As I stand there stalking the Abercrombie guys, I like to watch the guys that curiously walk by pretending not to notice. Many of them are wearing flip-flops. Is that a coincidence? I think not....closet flip-flops fetishists!

My First Crush of the Spring: I just love the dark-haired Abercrombie guy at the door. As I stood there watching, he would constantly slide his foot in-and-out of his flip-flops. If this isn't a turn-on for you guy, please leave!

Asian Model: This is a great story. As I was getting ready to leave Abercrombie to pursue other flip-flop wearing guys, I walked up to the two (cute) doormen. I told them that I had to leave and I needed a picture of the model before I go. They informed me that I would have to get in line with the 100 or so others that were waiting. I said, "C'mon..it will only take a second. I don't want to buy anything. I just want 'his' picture." They laughed since a female model was standing next to him. I asked her to move out of the picture because "I only want a picture of him!" The shirtless Asian model yelled 'Whoa' at me and start laughing....thus the big smile on his face! I'll probably avoid A&F for awhile.........

What a great way to begin another Spring season. There's plenty more to come!

Winter Flip-Flops Finale: March 2010

Early March had been a busy time for me. Between business travel and the horrendous weather we had in the Northeast U.S., I only had one last opportunity to traverse around NYC in search of guys wearing flip-flops in the winter. The photos below were taken on Sunday March 14th, a cool rainy day with the temperature in the 40sF.

Tourists Beware!: Ha Ha! I saw this group of four Asian tourists as they zig-zagged through Times Square obviously lost. They walked around in squares (as opposed to circles) as they maneuvered up and down the same block three times. Both of the guys were wearing thin-strapped rubber flip-flops. I especially loved watching them as they gingerly walked around the puddles. Alos, I thought that the guy wearing the grey sweatpants had especially cute toes!

Shopping For Sneakers?: I spotted this young blonde guy as he walked down Seventh Avenue. I caught up to him at the intersection where I was able to snap off a few photos of his cold, red toes wearing a pair of Rainbows sandals. He was very cute. I crossed the street after him where he entered into a sporting goods store. Of course, I followed him into the store where he was looking at the sneakers on the wall. I shot a few photos then left him alone, hoping that he wouldn't come out of the store wearing a pair of sneakers. I was right - he's a flip-flops fan - he still was wearing his flip-flops when he came out of the store!

Soccer Slides: I don't particularly care for the look but I know all of our Latin-American soccer fans would appreciate the photos, especially with the World Cup on the hroizon!

Cold, Wet, and Tired of Winter: Well, we've come to the end of the winter of 2009-2010. My Rainbow sandals have endured the long cold, wet season and survived (as well as my toes). I look forward to Spring and you should too. I have many photos of flip-flop wearing guys which I will start to post this coming weekend. I'm sure you've been waiting for it!

1st Days of Spring Preview: Red Havaianas

Spring arrived in New York City about 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon March 20th. I spent both Saturday and Sunday afternoon walking around Manhattan observing the sights. And there were many! The temperature was in the low 70sF on Saturday and mid-60sF on Sunday with plenty of sun. Guys wearing flip-flops were out in abundance due to the cold and snowy winter season we endured here in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. I took more than 250 photos and even shot a few videos this past weekend. Up above, is a short video (a teaser) of some of the sights I witnessed. It will take me a few days to sort through the photos which I'll probably post later this week.

I caught this guy as he walked down 42nd Street away from Times Square. He was wearing a pair of red Havaianas flip-flops which were well broken-in. I followed him for awhile until he suddenly turned back towards me. The video ends as you hear his voice. Enjoy!!

Sandal Report: New Teva Flips Double As A Flashlight

Sandal company Teva has a new product coming out in May called the "Illum". It's basically a super comfy waterproof microsuede sandal with tiny LED lamps in the middle of each foot that lights up the path you're walking on...quite cool!

Would love to have these on camping or beach trips. The lights detach from the shoe and clip into a keychain, too, so you can use them to look at things other than what's in front of your feet...or at other guys feet!!!
